Ruby, Ruby, Ruby, Rubyyyyy - do ya, do ya, do ya, do yaaaa?  High fives if you know the song!

Today I'm reviewing 'Melted Ruby' by Too Faced.

'Melted Ruby' is a wearable candy apple red.

'Melted Ruby' is different from Maybelline Vivid Matte Liquid in 'Berry Boost', because the Maybelline liquid lipstick is more of a pink, than a red.  'Melted Ruby' is quite similar to MAC 'By Special Order' (review HERE), but it has more of a glossy finish.

I found the formula on this one to be inconsistent from my other experiences with Melted products - it was a bit of a let down.  This one was quite sheer and pretty watery.  When I squeezed the bottle I could hear the crackling sound of bubbles popping - perhaps the product wasn't very well mixed.  I tried squishing and rolling the tube between my fingers before the application, but it didn't seem to help until the 4th time I tried wearing the product - each time I wore it I would have a vigorous pre-wearing squishing session (the first lip swatch photo above is from the 4th time I wore it, to show what it looks like when mixed.  The two face photos are from the first time wearing it, where the formula looked and felt quite greasy).  Because the product was so unmixed, I required a few layers to achieve a very mediocre coverage.  In addition, to the lack of coverage, it transferred onto my teeth, and immediately bled outside of my lip lines, which is something that I never experience with liquid lipsticks.  It required a lot of maintenance like clean-up with concealer, and constant check-ins to make sure the product hadn't wandered throughout the day.

Even though 'Melted Ruby' was a bust, I'm not giving up on Too Faced liquid lipsticks - to Sephora I go!
