My New Post-Colouring Hair Routine, ft. John Frieda Sheer Blonde Hi-Impact Collection - Review

It's no secret that this gal is a bottle blonde.  My hair has been almost every colour under the sun, but blonde is definitely my favourite, as well as the colour that I've been most committed to.

For the past few weeks I've been exclusively using John Frieda's new Sheer Blonde Hi-Impact Collection, which is made to restore colour-treated hair.

I like to joke that I'm single-handedly keeping John Frieda in business, because I've been using their products for years and years.  But I've taken extra good care of my hair since going blonde.

My normal post-colouring hair routine involves using John Frieda Sheer Blonde Go Blonder shampoo and conditioner.  In addition, after the first 2-3 washes I also use the Go Blonder Controlled Lightening Spray (I don't use it too often because it contains hydrogen peroxide, so I like to limit my use).

For the past month and a half I've been using the new John Frieda Sheer Blonde Hi-Impact Collection.  The collection is supposed to rejuvenate damaged hair back to vibrancy.  My hairdresser always makes a point to tell me that my hair looks healthy, but I know that colour-treated hair isn't as healthy as non-colour-treated hair, so I was excited to try this line.

Hi-Impact Shampoo, Conditioner and Oil Elixir ($12.99 each)

You love your bright blonde colour, but since you are colouring all the time to maintain blonde perfection, your hair looks damaged, flat and unhealthy. You can now revive the look and feel of colour damaged hair, while protecting your colour at home, in your shower, with the NEW John Frieda® Sheer Blonde® Hi-Impact Restoring Shampoo and Conditioner. With every wash, the restoring shampoo rejuvenates blonde hair’s beautiful, vivid hues, while the conditioner moisturizes and repairs damaged hair to restore vibrancy to distressed strands to reveal a brighter blonde! Safe for use on natural or colour-treated hair, as well as highlights and lowlights.

Complete your ultra-blonde look out of the shower on towel-dried hair with NEW John Frieda® Sheer Blonde® Hi-Impact Restoring Oil Elixir. Containing a blend of oils, including sunflower oil, this lightweight Oil Elixir visibly repairs damage and replenishes hair to bring life to dull, over-processed blonde, while strengthening strands.

After testing this line thoroughly, I have to say that I'm very happy with the results.  Before starting to use it, I noticed that my hair would fall flat, pretty frequently.  Furthermore, any breakage that was starting to grow out would look like super frizzy flyaways.  After using the Hi-Impact line (shampoo and conditioner in the shower, oil elixir on the ends, after showering), my hair looked and felt healthier.  My hair looks less damaged - the flyaways weren't as frizzy and "all over the place".

Where I could really feel the difference was in the shower.  You know when you're washing your long hair, and you rinse out the product by making a ponytail and wringing it out?  After a few weeks of using the Hi-Impact line, I found that my ponytail was much thicker - like my hair was able to retain more water, because it was more full.  I know...it sounds like a weird way to explain it, but it meant that my hair was becoming healthier.  Such a win!

The John Frieda Hi-Impact Shampoo, Conditioner and Oil Elixir  are available for $12.99 each, at mass retailers.
