Quo Cosmetics Fall 2016 Collection - Review and Look

Quo's limited edition collection for fall 2016 is here, and I put it to the test.

This collection is laid out quite similarly to their spring 2016 'Prismatic' collection, as far as what it contains.  Let's see how it measures up.

First up is the eyeshadow palette.  In the past, Quo eyeshadow palettes have been a bit of a bust for me, as far as pigmentation (I'm looking at you, 'Prismatic Eye Palette').  'Neutral Ground' ($18.00 CAD) contains 10 eyeshadows from the golden brown family.  It has a mix of mattes and shimmers.

This palette was a huge step up from previous Quo eyeshadow palettes.  It was much more pigmented, which made it easier to put together a look with, since I didn't have to repeatedly dip my brush into the product.  The big setback with this palette was the powder itself - it was finely milled, but there was TONS of fall-out on my face, as well as a pile of dusty powder in the palette every time I dipped in my brush.  Like...a lot.  So, it was pretty messy.

The face palette in 'Perfectly Ordinary' ($20.00 CAD) contains a large blush and bronzer, as well as a smaller highlighter (similar to the 'Prismatic Face Palette').

I really like the colour of the blush from this palette - a matte rosy pink.  The highlight was quite chalky, and the bronzer (that contains a fair amount of gold shimmer) was too red for me (as are most bronzers).

The matte lipstick in 'Red Alert' ($14.00 CAD) is a bit of a mystery for me - on the surface it looks like it might be a true red, but when worn on my lips, it seemed to be more of an orange-red.  It didn't seem to want to stay in the centre of my bottom lip.  Quo also included a brow palette ($12 CAD) in their collection, but it seems to be a re-promote of the palette form their Spring 2016 Collection (review HERE).  The colours were too dark and red-toned for me, so I didn't use the brow palette in my look.

Finally, we have the brush set ($50), which comes with a carrying pouch, and six brushes: eyeshadow, contour, face powder, foundation, eyeliner and concealer.

The brushes that worked for me were the eyeshadow brush, the eyeliner brush (with a cream eyeliner), and the concealer brush (to apply a browbone highlight).  The other brushes were a miss for me - the contour brush was too narrow and wouldn't blend away any harsh contour liners, the face brush wasn't dense or round enough, and I prefer to use a buffer brush over a flat foundation brush.  I wish that the set included a fluffy blush brush, as well as an eyeshadow blending brush.
