Galaxy/Nebula Nails

These nails were pretty easy to do, because there is no wrong way to do it.

All you need is a bunch of colours, a piece of cardboard for your scratch pad, a make up sponge cut up into small pieces and a dotting tool

1)  One thick base coat a dark, sparkly colour - Sally Hansen Diamond Strength (94) "Black Diamond".
2)  Put a few drops of nail polish on your scratch pad.  Using small make up sponges, layer colours on with a dabbing action in any type of pattern across the nail, such as spots or diagonal lines:
       a)  (Blue) Sinful Colors (947) "Mint Apple"
       b)  (Green) Sinful Colors (946) "Happy Ending"
       c)  (Yellow) Sinful Colors (955) "Pull Over"
       d)  (Hot Pink) Sally Hansen, Hard As Nails:  Xtreme Wear (320)              "Fushia Power"
       e)  (Orange) Sinful Colors (30) "Courtney Orange"
       f)  (Frosty Purple) Sally Hansen Diamond Strength (30)                      "Lilac Chantilly"
3)  Fill in any spaces with too much colour with the black from step 1.
4)  Using the small end of a dotting tool, add 3-5 dots to create stars using
Pure Ice (981CP) "Super Star!"

2)  Using the small side of a dotting tool, apply semi-circles on the outer corners of the nail with Pure Ice (980 CP) "Black Rage".
3)  Using the same small side, apply 2 small dots in centre of nail for nose.
4)  Using Large side of dotting tool, apply 2 larger dots above nose to make eyes

Split Nails

These nails can be done with any colours, I did one application with pink, and one with green.
1)  Apply one or two thin base coats of Pure Ice (919CP) "Rumours".
2)  Refer to 'Patchwork' blog entry on how to apply and remove tape.
3)  One thick coat of Sally Hansen, Hard As Nails:  Xtreme Wear (200) "Strobe Light" on untaped/exposed part of nail.
4)  Remove tape and let dry completely.
5)  Use black nail art pen to apply a thin diagonal line across, tracing over the break between colours from step 1 and 3.

 1)  Refer to instructions above replacing pink polishes with Sinful Colors (946) "Happy Ending" for step 1, and Sinful Colors (932) "Call You Later" for step 3.

Cheetah print with moons

1)  For Cheetah print, refer to 'leopard print' blog entry - instead of using a gold base, use China Glaze (933) "Classic Camel".
2)  Use a medium or large ended dotting tool, apply Sinful Colors (369) "Ruby Ruby" in a half moon shape near your cuticle.

Rainbow!!

1)  Apply tape, covering the entire nail except for a portion closest to the cuticle.
2)  Apply one coat of Klean Color's (20) "Neon Pink".
3)  Remove tape, apply new piece of tape a few millimeters further away from cuticle.
4)  Carefully, apply a smooth line of Klean Color's (153) "Neon Amethyst" against tape and previous colour.  Be careful to not paint over previous colour.
5)  Repeat steps 3 and 4 with Klean Color's (14) "Neon aqua", (204) "Neon Lime", (18) "Neon Yellow", and (19) "Neon Orange".

  2. Once dry, place a piece of tape from one corner of the nail to another
  3. On exposed nail, one coat - Sally Hansen Hard as Nails (850) "Pumping Iron"

Shimmery Periwinkle Nails

Every time I do this colour, people ask me if it's from the Justin Bieber line.  Nope - just one of my own creations.

Step 1:  two thin coats - Sally Hansen Diamond Strength (30) "Lilac Chantilly"
Step 2:  one thick coat - Wet n Wild - Wild Shine (460D)

Candy Apple Red

It isn't clear in the picture, but this colour has red micro sparkles.

2 to 3 coats - Sally Hansen, Hard As Nails:  Xtreme Wear (390) "Red Carpet"

Aqua

2 to 3 coats - Sally Hansen, Hard As Nails:  Xtreme Wear (280) "Marine Scene"

Marbling Attempts

I'm still new to marbling.  I think for my next attempt I'll stick to using mineral water instead of tap water, and use a white base, so the colour comes out clearer.
