THEFACESHOP Over Girl Edge Lip Crayon and Edge Stick Eyes - Review and Swatches

I've always known THEFACESHOP as a store that specializes in things like face masks, but I didn't know that they also carried makeup.

So I got my hands on a few of the lip crayons and eyeshadow sticks, and gave them a spin.

Let's start with the lip crayons.  Each tube contains 0.6 g of product, compared to a standard lipstick that contains 4.2 g of product.  The crayon is retractable, and is shaped like a teardrop.

'OR02' is a carrot orange.

'PK02' is a bold hot pink.

These lip crayons felt very nice on my lips - like a creamy balm.  However, that's where the positives end.  No matter how many swipes I applied, the product would not stick to the centre of my lips.  I would go over and over, trying to concentrate the product to one area, but no dice.  In addition, any time I rubbed my lips together, it would remove product from one part of my lip, and transfer it to another part of my lip.  Finally, these lip crayons had poor wear-time - just over an hour.

Next up is the Over Girl Edge Stick Eyes, which are a cream formula eyeshadow, in a retractable stick applicator.  I applied 'OR01' to the crease of my eye, and 'PP01' all over my lid.

These eyeshadows were such a miss for me.  Let's start with the colour payoff - not very pigmented.  I would swipe the product over my eyes several times and would only get a slight flush of colour, with a fine, but chunky glitter.  Any time I tried to blend the two colours together with my finger, although it felt very smooth and creamy, it would just make any colour that showed up disappear.  It was so hard to see it in person, and near-impossible to capture on camera.  Even with an anti-creasing primer, these shadows provided the worst creasing I have ever experienced.  And after 4 hours of wear, about 85% of the shadow had deteriorated, and all I was left with was chunks of glitter in the cerase.

The one thing that I really liked about the lip crayons and eyeshadow sticks were the fact that the expiry date was clearly labelled on the cap of each tube.

Although these products weren't up my alley, I think they might work for young people who are starting to get into makeup, like pre-teens.  The eyeshadow sticks give off a look that is quite tame (just a bit of sheen, with sparkle), so I think that a pre-teen might have fun with it, without looking too "done up".  Plus, both the eyeshadow sticks and lip crayons are travel friendly, so they can fit in a backback - can you say "back to school"?  Just don't expect  the products to last the entire school day.
