GOSH Cosmetics - Review and Look

GOSH Cosmetics is adding a bunch of products to their core collection.

GOSH Cosmetics core products review look

I put together an (almost) full-face look with them.  Was it a hit or a miss?

Let's break down the individual products one by one.

GOSH Cosmetics core products review primer plus skin perfector

Primer Plus Skin Perfector ($25.00 CAD) is an illuminating primer that stimulates skin renewal.  I'm pretty easy to please when it comes to primer, because if it does the job, then it does the job.  The only thing that I should note is that this primer is not a clear formula - it is initially a beige-y orange colour, and it takes a fair amount of rubbing for the colour to go away.

GOSH Cosmetics core products review foundation drops 002

I had to do a bit of research before I used the Foundation Drops ($26.00 CAD).  Because it came in a medicine dropper, I thought that it was supposed to be mixed into another foundation, to give it better coverage, like the Cover FX Custom Cover Drops.  But everyone seemed to be putting the drops directly on their face, and I couldn't find any instructions that said otherwise, so on the face they went.  At first everything seemed fine.  I applied one drop on the back of my hand and applied it with a buffing brush.  However, the coverage was too light for my liking, so I went on for another layer, and that's when it went downhill.  The second layer seemed to re-liquidize the first layer, so suddenly there were these super oily-feeling streaks all over my face that wouldn't go away, no matter how much I blended with a brush.  The only way to make the streaks go away was to aggressively rub it into my face with my palms, followed by setting it with a face powder, to make the oily-ness go away.  Definitely a huge miss for me.

GOSH Cosmetics core products review forever matt eye shadow stick 09 nougat

This is the Forever Matt Eye Shadow Stick in 'Nougat' ($14.00 CAD).  I used it as a an eyeshadow base by applying it all over my lid, and blending it out with my finger.  It was very creamy and blended out quite nicely.  And once it sets, it doesn't budge! I swatched it on the back of my hand before I put it on my eyes about 7 hours ago, and it's still there (even after washing my hands several times, and trying to rub it off)!  Sidenote, the colour at full intensity (sans-bending) is BEAUTIFUL - mauve-y brown - GOSH, can you turn this exact colour into a lip colour? ('Nougat' is also a lipstick in this collection, but the colour is less mauve)

GOSH Cosmetics core products review 9 shades to be cool in copenhagen

The 9 Shades To Be Cool In Copenhagen palette ($20.00 CAD) contains 9 cool-toned matte shadows.  The shadows picked up very nicely on my brush, but when put onto my lids, I noticed a few colours were a quite chalky (the lighter colours especially).  I do wish this palette contained some warm shadows, so that the palette would pack bit more punch.

GOSH Cosmetics core products review rebel eyes long wear volume mascara

The Rebel Eyes Long Wear Volume Mascara ($17.00 CAD) was EVERYTHING.  The applicator is curved perfectly to hug your lashes, and really get in there close, so you can start at the very base of the lashes.  And the applicator is flexible, so it's easy to control.  The formula is great, too!  It's a wetter formula (which I love), so it really coats your lashes.  It contains sea buckthorn seed oil, which protects your lashes.  It gave me that *POW* that I always look for in a mascara (and you all know how hard I am to please when it comes to my lashes).  If I had to pick one product from this collection to endorse, it would definitely be this mascara.  Two big thumbs up!

GOSH Cosmetics core products review contour n strobe kit medium

It's no secret that I can't contour - my face just doesn't want it to happen.  But I still tried, with the Contour N' Strobe Kit ($32.00 CAD) in medium. I had a hard time blending out the darker contour shade, especially around my temples.  The highlight shade is a very pretty metallic gold colour.  But all in all, the medium kit was just too dark for me.

GOSH Cosmetics core products review lumi drops peach

The Lumi Drops in 'Peach' ($17.00 CAD) is supposed to be applied to areas of the face where the sun would naturally hit.  I applied it over top of my blush, on my cheeks, and at first I thought "Ooooooohhhh, that's pretty!".  But then I looked at myself up close in the mirror and noticed that there were two big patches on the apples of my cheeks!  The Lumi Drops actually removed the makeup that it was layered on top of, so all I was left with was two spots of bare skin.  Nooooooo!  Hard no.

GOSH Cosmetics core products review matt nougat lipstick

The Velvet Touch Matt Lipsticks ($14.00 CAD) come in four colours - this is 'Nougat'.  It is definitely a matte lipstick, and not one of those ones that claims to be, but is still glossy.  They have a light sweet scent, but nothing too overpowering.  The only thing I didn't like about 'Nougat' was the fact that the colour was a bit muddy, and it highlighted dry patches on my lips, and made them look extra dark.
